Branding from scratch, built to last
I'm Eric, the designer behind Bland, and I build brands from the ground up: strategy, identity, custom lettering, packaging, and the sites they live on. Every project gets its own flavor, but the process doesn't change. I start with the same ingredients every time: paper, a pencil, the client's goals, and a few wild ideas of my own. Everything gets worked out by hand until it holds up in both the physical and digital world. The work, the clients, and I will all change, but what stays fixed is a knack for showing a brand what it's really capable of.

Behind the Bland
I came to design the long way around. I studied ecology, then bounced through a stretch of jobs that had nothing to do with any of this: ice cream maker, ski shop manager, landscaping foreman, English teacher in Brazil, kitchen boss. Cooking as a kid was where I first realized I could put my own spin on things, building dishes out of memory, instinct, and a stack of cooking magazines. It took me embarrassingly long to see those same instincts could build a brand. Bland is named for that first creative outlet in the kitchen. These days I work out of Tucson with my two dogs, and I take on clients who care about people and craft as much as I do.
